Project Profile

WINGS Project (Women Initiative new Goal for Safety)

supported by India HIV/AIDS Alliance

WINGS project is an intervention for reducing Gender-based Violence (GVB)/Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and HIV prevention among Women Who Use Drugs (WUDs) in India.

Up to the end of December 2019, 105 WUDs have been enrolled and among them 73 are injecting drug users and 32 are oral users.

Almost all of the WUDs have availed the services available under the WINGS program.

Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) as well as Informal Support Group Meetings have been conducted by forming different support groups in order to identify and to address the GBV and IPV currently faced by the WUDs from the various sections of the society. To reach out to those WUDs who are still hidden through their peers so that they could also come out and seek the various services which are exclusively made for them. In addition to providing the services to the WUDs we have also conducted their second endline survey for all of the enrolled WUDs.
