Under the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC)funded Project Sunrise, FHI 360 aims to enhance institutional and human capacity to accelerate HIV/AIDS response and scale up and strengthen the quality of the comprehensive package of services primarily for People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) . One of the thrust areas under the Project includes reaching high-risk populations who are not currently being served through the TI program.
Nirvana Foundation, Imphal, Manipur has been implementing prison HIV intervention in Manipur central Jail, Sajiwa under Project Sunrise in close collaboration with Manipur SACS and reaching out to 720 inmates.
GOAL: To enhance institutional and human capacity to accelerate HIV/AIDS response and scale-up and strengthen the quality of the comprehensive package of services primarily for People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) for prison inmates in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
Key Objectives and Activities:
Objective 1: Leverage on existing collaborative mechanisms established at the state level and scale-up prison interventions in Imphal
Objective 2: Improve access to health and HIV services for the prison inmates of Sajiwa Central Jail
Objective 3: Provide after release follow-up care and support to prisoners especially those living with HIV or those with a history of drug use.
